Location. Lying secluded along a stretch of white sand beach, the Coconut Beach Club is sublimely located in St. Johns, Antigua. Rolling hills dotted with stone towers flow into spectacular reef protected beaches. Restaurants, watersports facilities and beach bars are located about the area and there are some good shopping venues as well. There are casinos on the island, and Antigua is known for having some of the best steel bands around. Hotel Features. Hammocks sway from palms along the beach, and the resort features a kidney-shaped pool and a wooden sundeck. Guests chooses from the all-inclusive or room-only plans, however, the use of snorkeling gear, small sailboats and two-person kayaks is complimentary to all guests. A spa is located on site and offers massage, facials, body treatments and nail care. A poolside bar and two alfresco restaurants, the Beach Restaurant and the Bamboo Room, are located on the property. The Beach Restaurant offers breakfast and lunch buffets, as well as Saturday evening barbeque buffets with live music. The Bamboo Room requires reservations and serves a la carte dinners five nights a week with live music two of the evenings and Tuesday- night Caribbean barbeques.
Guestrooms. Each of the guestrooms and suites feature furnished balconies and fantastic Caribbean vistas. Rattan furnishings, tile floors and brightly colored fabrics with floral prints add to the island ambience. The adult-oriented resort focuses on rest-and-relaxation and has foregone the installation of modern annoyances such as televisions and radios. Air conditioners and ceiling fans are included, however, as are refrigerators and coffeemakers.
Expert Tip. Great views are available from Shirley Heights, a lookout point accessible by what is probably the best nature trail on the island. Sunday afternoons, locals and visitors gather there from an outdoor party with panoramic sunset views. A shuttle is available from the resort for a surcharge.
